F*cked Around + Found Out

When it comes to trying new things - the best way for me to learn what I think about it, what I feel about it, and whether I like or don’t like a particular person, place, program or product, etc. - is to do what I call: FAFO!

That’s right, I’ve got to: “F*ck Around + Find Out”. Which is a fun way to say that I have to experience things for myself.

This applies to ALL kinds of things, like… learning new skill sets, gathering “tools” for my spiritual toolkit, how I market my business, and even having human relationships.

2023 was a year where I really embraced the FAFO and I f*cked around and found out a lot about myself and my business. I tried a bunch of new things and I stopped doing a bunch of things.

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re taking a closer look at how to wrap up the year and look ahead to what you want to create in 2024!

We dive into my New Years Eve rituals - that include reflecting on what I learned in the past year, what I loved about the year, while also noticing where I fell short, where my plans fell apart, and who maybe wasn’t very much fun to be around.

This end-of-year ritual is my chance to look back and take personal responsibility for what I've created in my life over the past year — and while also envisioning, with the support of my divine helpers, the possibility of what can BE moving forward.

So, what about you? What were your great lessons and loves of 2023?

And what are you simplifying and amplifying in the new year?

Right now, you have the opportunity to take responsibility for where you came from over the last 12 months, and plan for where you’re going next!

Are you ready and excited to FAFO in 2024?

Hey welcome to the Karen Kenny show I'm wicked excited to be here with you and I gotta tell you every time I go to start recording this episode, I started to laugh because the title

Karen Kenney:

it's a look at Emma Haile Silva detainees. It's I don't use Cragar. Mira. Okay. And we're back pull it together. Pull it together, lady. All right, here we go. Episode 251. You guys fucked around and found out. Okay, look at. I'm gonna dive just into that phrase in a little bit. But let me just start, let me just start this episode. You know, I always tell a little story. And then we extract something hopefully, useful, relatable, clickable, I'm really into you guys know, I'm really into storytelling, tell him some some relatable down to earth human stories, but then also sharing some practical, applicable spiritual principles and tools that we can put into action to make our life better, right to spread a little more love in the world. That's the whole point of the Karen Kenny show. So here we are, we're at the end of the year. So you might be listening to this at any time. But this is airing at the very end of December 2023. So a friend asked me the other day about New Year's Eve. And she said what do you what are you going to do? What do you do on New Year's Eve? And I told her about how you know, being married to a professional musician. I had spent many many many many, many many years. Okay, many years and bars, loud bars filled with increasingly more intoxicated drunk people, right? Like I would just look around and I'd be like, I see drunk people. Okay, I basically would go to my sweeties gigs. Right My sweetie Chris Lester. Or we go to his gigs. I would wait around until midnight, just so I could like sneak sneak up quick kissin before the band launched into like all legs I or whatever, right? And then I would be like, Okay, bye III and I would sneak out the door and I would go home. And these days, I'm like, sweetie, I love you. He I don't think he has a gig this year, which will be kind of fun that he'll be at home. But in the years past, I was like, sweetie, I love you. But like, No, I don't think I'm gonna come come out to these gigs anymore. Because the thought of sitting in Oh, wicked love by full of drunk people. It's just not that soothing. So not soothing. So, these days, I prefer to just kind of spend New Year's Eve like pretty low key, contemplative. And I have these rituals that I do. Okay, and that's what I want to share with you in case some of this is helpful to you in some way. And I'm going to be weaving in the whole background and found out concept. Okay. So here's what I do at the end of the year. So I take some quiet time. Okay, before midnight, of course, I don't like I don't want this precious. So sometime after I had some snacks, I sit on the couch, I pull out my notebooks. And I use in this case, I use these notebooks that have no lines on them. They're just white pieces of paper. And I get my markers and my pens and my highlighters and whatever. And then I start to kind of make I make a list. So sometimes I write things out. Sometimes I make bullet points, sometimes I just kind of plan but what's happening is, is I me, me, and I call in my spiritual team, right? So I always ask for the smartest part of me that the divine help is the part of my mind that is in communion with the divine, the part of my mind that is smarter than just my little ego, personality. perspective, you know what I mean? I want to tap into that highest knowing part of myself. And this is what this is what me and my spiritual team do. And also my three kids, my three kids are always with me as well. And sometimes once in a blue moon, my sweetie is if he doesn't have a gig, okay? So together, this is what I look at. Okay, at the end of at the end of the year. I look at what was I take a moment to appreciate what is or take a look at what is and then I take a look at a little ganda at what's next. Okay, what was what is in what's next. And the reason why I do this is I often say right, and if you've ever heard Gavin DeGraw, the singer he says this great line. He says part of knowing where you're going is knowing where you're coming from. And so I play off of that, and I say it's hard to know where you go and if you don't know where you've been coming from. So I think it's really good to take a look back at the year that has just gone by, because think about it. We're all such suckers, right? We stopped touring, we started New Year and we're like, Yeah, this is gonna be a great. Not always, okay, the Hello pandemic, and awful things are happening in the world, but you get it like on a personal level, the knee is like a clean slate, you get a fresh start, you're like, oh my god, I can create, like, whatever I want to create. It's pretty incredible. So it's exciting. And I think we get two of those opportunities each year, you get your birthday, your birthday is like a whole new personal New Year. And then you have the calendar New Year. So you have a couple of chances to take a look at your own bullshit, and to look at your brilliance and claim it and say, Okay, this is what went down. This is what was, this is what's happening right now. This is what it is. And this is what's coming next. This is like, what do I want to create, to you know, etc, etc. So what's next? And we're gonna dive into that a little bit. So my overall theme review 2023. Here's just the overall heading is I fucked around and found out. Now, why I love this thing so much is when I look back at my childhood, many of you know I grew up in Lawrence, mass, Lawrence, Massachusetts, I also grew up in Boston mass, there's a particular kind of energy and attitude and people write in those places. Lawrence is a tough little immigrant City, 30 miles north of Boston, right, right on the Merrimack River. Like we literally were had Mills all along, you know, the river. And we were an immigrant city. It's like every color every, you know, kind of food, all kinds of people different languages. It was a cultural melting pot. And these were hard working blue collar, right? People, these are hard working tough people. Right. I often jokingly say even the language we used in my childhood was violent, it was an intense place to grow up. And then you go into Boston. And of course, there's different sections, different sections, and there's different sections of Lawrence too, but different sections of Boston, but but here's the deal. When I was a kid growing up the language of our time is it's like, it's like somebody would threaten you, or somebody would say something negative or somebody would like test you or push a button or you know, act a particular way. And you'd be like, Okay, go ahead, fuck around and find out, fuck around and find out what's going to happen if you do that thing. Go ahead, God, you know, so it's always made me laugh. But when I think about how I best learn, as a human being, as a business owner, as a teacher, as a mentor, like anything that I do, the way that I learn best, is I have to try it for myself. And this applies to skill sets. This applies to tools This applies to human beings. Like a lot of times people will get really crazy, really happy, really like promoting a particular person. And they'll be like, Oh my God, you're gonna love this person. You're gonna love this person. And I'm always like, oh, we'll see. Let me go, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go fuck around. I'm gonna go have my own experience. And then I'm going to find out what I think. Right? So look, I like to get recommendations. I like to hear reviews, I like to hear testimonials. I like to know, okay, this is what my fellow human beings have been experiencing with this place, this person, this product, this program, right, whatever. And then this place, but I still want to have my own experience. So I can discover for myself, right? Whether it was for me or not, okay, so fucking around and finding out is how I discover things. And in 2023, I tried a lot of new things. I did a lot of new things in my business, I stopped doing a lot of things in my business and in 2024, and it's telling you right now, 2024 is going to be the heart like total total fuck around and find out, I'm going to be creating so many new things, new offerings, new ways of working with me bringing some old stuff back, letting some stuff go creating some new, like, I'm working excited. I'm wicked excited. So if that kind of resonates with you, maybe 2024 Is your big buck around and find out. Yeah, by 2023 was fucked around and found out I found out a bunch of stuff. Okay, so I'm going to just kind of walk you through what my process is, for what I do at the end of the year, and maybe you can borrow this or maybe you can create your own kind of ritual, but maybe you'll get inspired by how I do things. Okay, so I got more of FIFO as I call it, fa F Oh, fuck around, find out FIFO so that's 20 pretty poor. Okay, I plan to do a lot more of it. So let me break it down for you. So okay, my take some time at the end of the year to review. This is what I try to take stock of right and I'm gonna, I'm gonna keep repeating the same things, but in totally different ways. Not totally but in different ways. Because I know that language matters. Certain words will resonate and certain words won't. So I'm going to kind of come at this from a couple of different ways. So just stick around. And you can see which one maybe works best for you. So I look back at the I take stock of this, I take stock of what did I learn?

Karen Kenney:

What did I love? Right? And if you find this helpful, like I said, you can play along, too. What did I learn? What did I love? So number one, the learning piece, I look back on the places where I fell short. Right, where I fell short. I also take a look at the places where the plan fell apart. Right? Oh, this is the plan. Yeah, we'll see. Sometimes here's, here's the biggest plan, plan on the plan not going according to plan. Okay, so number one, where I fell short number two, where the plan fell apart. And then number three, where the people weren't so fun, where maybe some of the collaborations or the relationships or the situations are like, Yeah, this was not so fun. And I call these the lessons, right? What did I learn the lessons, what were the lessons of 2023, then number two, or column B, A, and then B, one and two, whatever you want to say. Okay, I also then take a gander back and look at what I have gratitude for, like, gratitude for what I created. Where do where do I have gratitude? Where did I What did I feel happy about? Who did I have fun with? Even if it was online, right? Who did I have fun with? Who did I connect with? What did I have a blast doing? What did I have a blast being? And I call this the love? So there's what did I learn? Those are the lessons, right? And then it's also what did I love? And this is the love piece. Okay, and so I take a kind of a gander of this, and I'll say, oh my god, I met that person online. They were so fun. I had such a blast being on their podcast, I love the way that they think, oh my god, I was a guest teacher over here, that was so much fun. Oh, man, I'd lead this retreat. Maybe I want to do it in a different place next year, like, oh, maybe I want to make the group bigger. Maybe I want to stop doing that. Right. So this is when we really look back. Whether you have a business, whether you're an employee, whether you're an employer, whether you're a mom, a dad, whatever, whatever your gig is, in this lifetime, right now, however, you were, you know, using your purpose, however you are showing and extending love in the world, whatever you do for work or not, right? Maybe your work is I'm raising my kids right now. That's a fucking full time job, right? So we look back at these things. And it's like, what were the lessons? Right? What did I learn? And what did I love? What did I discover that I really love doing? It lights me up? Like my whole body leans into? Like, yes, I want I want to do more of that. Okay. Then I asked myself, What am I intentions for this new clean slate of a new year? Right? What is it? So I also use this time to reflect on number one? What do I intend to let go of? What do I intend to let go of? Number two, what do I intend to keep? What do I intend to keep? And then number three, what do I intend to grow and expand on? Number one, what am I going to let go of number two, what do I want to keep? Number three, what do I intend to grow and expand in this is my way of kind of taking personal responsibility for what I created in my life in 2023. It's also me remember, I'm doing this you know, and of course in miracles is there's a great line that says a healed mind does not plan and doesn't mean you don't make a plan. It doesn't mean you don't have a plan, create a plan. Have some fun with your mockers write down a plan. It just means you don't make the plan by yourself. Right? I always say call upon that part of you that highest self call it your higher power, your highest self, I call it Holy Spirit, call it spiritual team call it so I don't care what you call it. Call it your divine helpers, your angels, I don't care what people call it, call upon the part of you that is in communion with God that is in communion with the divine, the part of you that has not forgotten who you really are and what you came here to do. We get in touch with that. So this is my chance to look back and take personal responsibility for what I've created in my life that year. And then also envisioning, with the help of my divine helpers, right? The possibility of what can be right the potential impossibility of what can be moving forward. And I want to say this about mucking around and finding out. You don't have to wait until there's a new year to do it. You can do it at the end of a project. You can do it at the end of a collaboration. You can do it at the end of a week, right? Like oh, I think I want to you know, go back to yoga. I think I want to join the gym again. Whatever it is, I think I want to sign up have that class or blah, blah, blah, you go you fuck around, you get an experience, get a little taste of it, you see how it feels right? Now keep in mind, if you don't give something enough time, right? You may not, you may not have given it a fair shot. But let's just say, I'm gonna go back, I'm gonna try this for a week or two or a month, or whatever it is. And then you find out if this was for you, right? If you grew to love it, maybe it surprised you and you hated it. Maybe it surprised you, and you loved it. So you don't have to wait until the end of a whole calendar year, you might say, I'm gonna do this for three months, I'm going to commit to this thing. I'm going to be disciplined, I'm going to show up. And I'm going to say yes, I'm going to say yes to living my best life for these next three months. And this is what my intention is, this is what I'm going to do. You can get that down on paper. But you can use FIFO, right? You can use FIFO, right to go and say, Hey, I tried that for a month. Hey, sweetie, I'm making this up. Right? Let's say, let's say your partner wants to take cooking classes together or dance lessons, or whatever it is. And you're like, Okay, I've got you. I've got you. I got your back. I'll try this thing with you. I'll do it. I'm gonna give it a go. I'm gonna give it a fair shot, and then find out what's true. What's real, what feels good for you. And pay attention. Where do you lean in? Where do you get lit up? Where do you get genuinely excited? And curious and enthusiastic? And where do you lean back? Where do you get repelled? Where are you? Like, no, no, no, no, no. All set? No, thank you and seen, right? Like all done. Oh, okay. So here's the thing. This is really important stuff. Right? FIFO is important stuff. Right? What were the lessons? What did I learn? What did I love? This is important stuff. And then asking ourselves, what do I intend to let go up? What do I intend to keep? What do I intend to grow and expand? Because it's not only your opportunity to take personal responsibility for what was you also kind of get to sit with and be with what is and then you get to decide what's next for me? What's next for me moving forward, in my next marriage, and my next relationship, and my next partnership, and my next event, my next whatever, right? I'm going to start showing up to work a little bit earlier, I'm going to be the person who's not late to class anymore, whatever you get to didn't you get to determine and decide, right? We don't always get to control what happens to us. Right? We just know that there are systems of oppression in this in this country, there are systems in place that keep certain groups of people down, held back, whatever. And, and we all have our own personal power, or we get to decide who do I want to be? How do I want to show up? How do I want to speak to people? How do I want to represent how do I want to use my voice? So I'm not I'm not going to sit here and be like, Oh, no, I can just pretend like pretend like everything is fair, because it's not. Because some people are born way ahead of the starting line. Some people are born on the starting line. It's like, you know, the Goldilocks, right? And three bears just right, right. Some things are a little too hard. Some things are a little too soft. For some people, some of it's just right. But some people are starting way behind the starting line. And if we're not willing to admit that to ourselves, then we're kind of, we're just kind of sticking our head in the shins, and we're a little bit full of shit. But do the best you can with whatever you got is what I'm trying to say. Okay? And this is really important. This looking at yourself and looking at your life and looking at your choices and looking at your history and what you're creating. Right? What are you leaving in your way? What what are you what are you looking at in 2023? When you take a look back at your life, because this stuff is important, not only looking at the external things like oh, my bank account, my calendar, how I spent my time how I spent my money, who I spent my energy with all those things are really important. Because, but also the internal work, the internal work that we do, because the internal work is causal. And what happens in your calendar, in your business, in your bank account in your relationship? That's a fact. That's a fact.

Karen Kenney:

So who am I being right? Who am I being because who you are being and who you believe yourself to be your identity is how you're going to decide what you do and how you show up. This is why I often say, right, so many people want to like change the world I want to change the world. And then before you can change the world, you got to change your own damn self. So this right here, and we don't have to wait till January one, right? We start to do this towards the end of the year. We start we give ourselves a few days or a week and we take a look and we go okay, I'm going to be honest with myself. I'm going to take a really fucking honest look in the soul mirror like I'm gonna really as I say, in 12 Step programs, take that fearless moral inventory and don't bullshit yourself. Don't lie to yourself, be honest with yourself and say yeah, this is where I blew it. This is where I did really great man. I want to celebrate that I want to celebrate my strength there. And I want to take a look at you don't have to be self up. That's not interesting. Not interesting to like, you know, self flagellating, flog yourself, but just be honest, yeah, this is where I kind of dropped the ball. This is where I blew it. You know, this is where I didn't do the best that I could have done. And you know, sometimes life happens and plans happen. So compassion and kindness and curiosity, this is how we want to look back. This is how we want to look back now with a magnifying glass to burn holes in ourselves. Right? Don't look back with all this ego, try to come back with it from an expanded point of view, right, really open and curious and introspective, without belittling or having contempt for or disgust for or shaming yourself, Okay, try to have a little fun with this exercise. Okay. Here's another way to make it as simple as possible. This is another way to think about it. When you're looking ahead for 2024, right, because looking back at 2023 is great, but then we have to shift our gaze forward. Okay. And we want to do it from a really grounded and loving place. So maybe take a few deep breaths, maybe say a prayer, do a few moments of meditation, right? A few minutes of meditation, whatever works for you get yourself right, get your head right, get yourself aligned. The assignment is alignment here. And then ask yourself this, what do I want to simplify? In 2024? These, these are the words that I use, okay? What do I want to simplify? Meaning? What do I want to let go of? What do I want to do less of what do I want to let fall away? What thing? What relationships? What offers what habits? Right? What old bullshit stories I've been telling these beliefs that I've had these this identity that I claim that is no longer working for me? What do I want to simplify? And once you've done that, then you move on to what do I want to amplify? What do I want to keep? What do I want more of what do I want to grow and expand? What do I want to pour energy into and time and resources and love? These are really powerful and important things? Because we know first of all, the subconscious mind, right? You know how things get embedded in our subconscious mind, through emotion. And through repetition, right? The subconscious mind kind of deals in like stories and emotions and feelings and colors and symbols, right? So if we can start to envision it, if we can start to think about it, if we can start to speak about it, if we can write it down. And we get that really great head hot hand connection going through using your hand not typing, right? Just get some paper, like old school, get a bunch of colored pens. I'm holding up a bunch of colored pens, right? I always have my bunch of pens, right? And have some fun, man have some fun envisioning what you want to amplify, okay, what do I want to simplify? And what do I want to amplify? These are the things you want to ask yourself. And this is a great way to learn how to trust your call it your inner teacher, call it your intuition, call it your gut instinct, again, call it your spiritual team, whatever you want to call it. But this leaning into trusting yourself not asking everybody else, what do you think I should do that there's a time and a place for that. But first and foremost kind of crafting and creating in your mind first, what you envision. And you can simply close your eyes, take a few good deep breaths allow your body to relax. And if you need some help with relaxing, you can go to my shop, right Karen kenny.com/shop and download one of the storytime hypnosis that I have for sale that like 25 bucks you guys get yourself in a nice, we call the shop your reliable relaxation resource. Right I'm going to be putting a bunch more stuff in the shop in 2024 I'm so excited. But get yourself into a really nice calm and relaxed and open and receptive state. You know Robert dryness to Gore says that everything that belongs to everything that is yours, everything that is meant for you. Right I'm paraphrasing everything that is meant for you everything that belongs to you will come to you if if you create the capacity to receive it. And here's what I know about anxiety and stress and overwhelm is very contractive it's very constricting. If you're you're listening and you're not watching, I'm kind of balling up my fists. I'm rounding my shoulders forward, I'm making my heart the front of my body tight a small I'm rounding over and shrinking. And that's the fear state and love man. Love is more open. Now. I'm like spreading my fingers wide. I'm opening up my arms opening up my chest. That's where dreams happen. That's where visualization and create tivity happens isn't that open and receptive that love space. And so much of my work, you guys, I can simplify it down to a couple of things, helping people to shift in move to transform their story to their glory. It's really about this journey of coming back to love shifting the mind from fear, to love. Because when we can do that, so much becomes possible. So much more of you becomes possible. And it's wicked exciting. So I hope this has been helpful for you in some way. I hope a bunch of you, I hope you you you right now who's hearing my my voice in your ears, you and then the collective you, I hope you fuck around and find out for yourself. I think it's a fantastic plan, because it allows you to stay curious, I'm not talking about being flaky, and just flipping around everywhere and not doing anything with commitment or consistently, right? Be consistent, be committed, give yourself enough time to find out some things about yourself and your patterns and your habits and how you do things. And stay curious about it. And then if you discover something you don't like, change it. Do something about it, right? I'm talking about yourself not, we can't always change other people, we can't always change external situations, we can't make the you know, people stopped blowing up children in other countries, we can't stop so much of the horrible abuse that happens to children and to animals and to women and the violence in the world and all the stuff that goes on right. There's so much we can't control but what we can control. Okay. And of course, there are tiny exceptions to all of this is always exceptions, every rule, but what mostly most of us can control is ourselves, the way we think, the way we speak, the way we act, our choices, our decisions, what comes out of our mouth, where we choose to put our mind. And if you're not very good at being able to place your mind where you want. This is where a DSP, a daily spiritual practice is really helpful. And of course, these are all the things that I help people with, and my one to one work in the quest right? In my hat to hot days, right? It's like a coach in your pocket. You'll be learning more about that in 2024. I'm going to be having more retreats, aka workshops, I'm so excited about what's to come. So look, I have a lot of fun things that I plan on in 2024 fucking around and finding out and I hope you come and do it with me. So I'm going to be a bunch of things that I'm going to be keeping but a bunch of things I'm going to be letting go and a lot of things that I'm going to be expanding. So for me 2024 is simplifying and amplifying, it's going to be so much fun. And if you want to be if you want to be in the know, if you want to know and find out about the shenanigans, the all the shenanigans that I'm going to be up to in 2024. Just head on over to my website, get on my list. Right? It's Karen kenny.com/sign. Up and then you'll find out what's going on and maybe something will resonate with you or pique your curiosity, a call to heart and you'd be like, Oh, I've been waiting for something like this. I want to sign up. I want to check it out. I want to join I want to buy that thing. I want to invest in myself. Whatever it is. Okay. Lots of 2024 shenanigans are afoot. Okay, I just want to check in make sure if there's anything else, let's say yeah, okay, so fuck around means go have some fun. Right? Go have some fun. See what works. See what you love. See what you hate. See what you fear. See what you're afraid of see the places you hold yourself back right so again, own your brilliance and own your bullshit both of them and then find out really discover. Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose? What lights me up? What am I wicked good at, right? What do I do just for shits and giggles because it's really fun. Okay, the other thing I want to say is if you're watching this, right instead of listening because a bunch of you watch the show instead of just listen auditorially oder auto auto

Karen Kenney:

audio? That was funny. Okay, my brain, my brain get like stuck on skip. Okay, but if you're excuse me, if you're watching, you'll see behind me that I moved a picture that I had back it's about over here closer to me a picture of me and my mom. But back there that wall is now wide open, because I'm waiting for my big ass calendar to come. So I usually get a every year I usually get a calendar that is big. And it's like 24 by 36. It's like huge or whatever. And it's dry erase and I have the magazine I do the whole thing but this year I opted to get Jesse Itzler if you guys know who Jesse Jesse is he's a hotshot, he's really fun. I love his energy. He's really smart. He's wicked smart. He's humble. He's he seems to be I never met the guy in person. I hope to at some point. I would love to have him on my podcast. Um, but he has the big ass calendar and I'm like, There's no way I can resist. That's the that's the greatest name ever. So I ordered mine it's gonna come and I'm gonna map out my whole 2024 To the best of my ability and I'm gonna get some stuff on there. You know, and Jesse has a whole way that he does his his calendar. And I'll just tell you a little bit about it in case it it resonates with you. I thought I wrote these down. So what he does basically yeah, here it is right here. So what what Jessie does, and I want to give full credit right just google him get find him on Instagram. He just did a whole thing. It's Jessie J E S, S, E. And then his last name is Itzler it Z L E. And he is married to Sara Blakely who created Spanx. So any female listeners, you might know what a Spanx is, you might have worn one bought one, whatever. So what Jessie does what Jessie does to plan his 2024, he and I actually have a lot of things in common when it comes to simplifying. So one of the things I don't always talk about, the ways that I simplify is, I try to make sure that my desk going into the new year is like cleared off. Right now I don't do this just once a year, I do this all throughout the year, as I go through my clothes, I go through stuff that I no longer way I no longer use, when I look at it, it doesn't like light me up, I'm like, man, I've had this for a long time, thought I was gonna wear it and I don't. So I like to clean out my spaces. I like to clean out my closet, get rid of anything, I'm not using anything that's extra. And he and I have the same philosophy. It's it, can somebody else use this more than me as if somebody else out there that might need this. And we'll put it to use and if that's the truth, right, then I put it in a bag and I donate it. Okay, I also do this thing every year my friends can attest to this is that I'd like to start my new year with a clean inbox and email inbox so that I start at zero so they don't become overwhelmed. And then 2024, I'm going to be ruthless. I'm going to be unsubscribing to a bunch of stuff. I've already been doing that. So I do this at the end of 2023. And then because I like to start 2024 Like literally like clean slate. Jessie's wicked radical Mike Hill, he said that he just goes into his inbox. And it doesn't matter if he has 4000 emails, he will just select all and he hits delete, he just deletes everything. I was like holy shit that that is intense. And that is intense. I create a little file folder, I have a different system. But either way, it's really helpful. Okay. And so clean out your car, but I already I already keep my car clean. But you know what we did do a couple of days ago, we cleaned my sweeties car. I was like, sweetie, how do you feel about us kind of changing some things in your car, and we cleaned it and he loved it. And we were like, Yeah, so I helped him do that. So think about the places where you spend a lot of time, right? If you're somebody who works from home, your desk, if you drive around a lot like your car, your inbox, right any place that you just want to start for a rash, your closet, right? duskie a car, whatever. Also, again, a couple of weeks ago, I sent out to my email list, a fun way to save and it was like a 52 week savings plan. So you guys, this is when we really want to be looking at our calendars. Our bank accounts, right how we're saving or not saving and in. There's so many things as adults, I know it can feel like a lot, right? I feel like a lot. Some of you are like I'm just trying to be the best parent I can be. I don't have time. But one of the greatest gifts that you can give your kids is your own clarity is your own happiness is your own peace of mind is you getting your own shit together, that's going to be so helpful to your children. It's one of the ways that you love them. Okay, so getting back to the calendar. So Jessie does this thing where he says he picks one Muskogee Am I Sogi, where he picks one big year defining thing that he wants to do. So it might be running an ultramarathon. It might be you know, running a 5k It might be writing your book, it might be whatever, it's one big thing that you really want to do. And then he looks at and I don't want to give you everything because it's his proprietor, it's his stuff. But I just want to give you an example of somebody who does this this way. And then he plans six mini adventures, where every other month, he picks one day and he goes and he does something he doesn't normally do, again, Google him to see the whole video and find out about it. And then three, he picks like four new winning habits for new habits that he wants to bring into his life. And I always say to people look, there's the mental there's the emotional, there's the physical and there's a spiritual you could pick one from those four things. That's me and that's what I sometimes do. So I hope this has been helpful in some way. I hope you have a blast fucking around in 2024 but also look back on your 2023 See what works, see what didn't look at the lessons. Look at the love. Look at what you want to keep look at what you want to let go of look at what you want to grow and expand. Remember it's all about simplifying and amplifying FIFO go out there fuck around and find out. And most importantly, have fun. All right, I love you. Thank you so much for spending 2023 with me, if you are a loyal listener, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. If you're new here, I'm so glad welcome. Thank you for sticking around to the end. Here's the thing, you guys coming in 2024 I'm gonna have a little, just a little new artwork for the it's not it's not gonna go too crazy. But a little new artwork for the, for the podcast, we might be tweaking the intro, maybe I don't know if I want to change the music because my CD Chris Lester wrote the music for me, but we might be tightening it up a little bit. But there's going to be some changes coming down the pike and just thank you for being on this journey with me. I cannot believe that I'm about to go into my fifth year of podcasting, my fifth year of having this show. And it wouldn't be possible without you. I mean, I guess it would be I could still record these things and put them out into the ethers, but it's not. It's way more fun knowing that you're out there and you're listening. So if you know somebody who could benefit, right if you're getting something from this show, if you dig the show, and you know somebody who could benefit from listening particularly to this episode or any episodes, please do me a favor helped me to spread the love helped me to spread the good word by sharing it with one of your favorite humans. Share it with somebody you care about. Okay, wherever you go, you guys, leave yourself. Leave the place, leave the animals leave the people leave the planet, right? Better, better off better than how you found it. Wherever you go. May you having been there, be a blessing. Bye
